Build Your Own Audience To Sell Your Content
While it might seem like a great idea at first glance to place your content on other people's platforms, this is not always true or beneficial for you as a content creator.
Why you might ask? The simple answer is that many of these platforms only gain notoriety from your content in the first place, ranking them high in search engine results. Not your website or blog. Now, many people might argue the fact that many or these sites are a good thing and that might be true for some, but I've found that placing my content on the plethora of platforms out there don't pay at all or pay very little. That just doesn't add up for me. They have hundreds and in many cases, thousands of members all vying for the coveted top placement on that particular platform which means more eyes on their website and ads. Not yours. The one key point that draws most of us in, is the fact that many of these platforms have a built-in audiences in the thousands, maybe even millions of users and out of frustration we begin to believe that we will get more viewers and and in turn, make more money in a shorter time frame. This not always the case, in fact, I've placed content such as articles, videos and product reviews on tons of sites with very little results. I've found that outside of their user base, many of these sites get their traffic mainly from Google search using our content to boost their rankings. This what makes their sites popular. They bank on the idea that many people won't go the extra mile to build their own platforms and and as a result, they cash in on our content. Outside of the major players like Youtube, which is in a league of its own, and one of the few platforms that I would use outside my own simply because of its massive traffic, monetization possibilities and viewer engagement, many of the these other platforms that you hear about provide no real value in terms of profitability for all your efforts. Its the equivalent of running a content mill. Let me explain. You've produced great content then place that content on any given platform. Then, you sit back and wait to see the results and its nowhere near the viewership or engagement you expected. Very little viewers and very little profit. BIG disappointment! I know because I've been there. They take your content (If its good enough) then place ads around your content for profit. The more viewers they get from their built-in audience and search results, the more they profit from your content. Non of which goes to you. You're basically creating and posting content for free, and with ever changing algorithms on many of these platforms (Facebook included), it seems almost impossible to keep eyes on your material no matter how good you are at what you do. It becomes a selective process at some point. They pick and choose what content is seen and whats not seen. Sure, you might get some views, maybe hundreds of views, but you will never get the massive income that a lot of these platforms are making unless you build your own platform and keep your content in-house just like they do. Again with the exception of Youtube, this is the secret to creating wealth, but many won't do it because they believe that you have to be tech savvy or it will take too long to achieve results. That may be true, but if you stick to the script, not try to take shortcuts to achieve faster results and stay true to yourself and your abilities as a content creator, at least you will reap all the rewards of your hard earned labor in the end. This what I've discovered through my personal experience. In my opinion, the internet is the most transformative invention in the history of mankind, and despite what many people will tell you, there are still tons of opportunities out there. Just take a look at Instagram and sites like Onlyfans.com where average everyday people are raking in tens if thousands of dollars per month. Something unheard of back in the 80's when I was growing up. I'm not the greatest article writer, but I understand the power of the internet, and if used properly, you can without a doubt generate wealth. If you don't have the technical know how to build your own website or platform, try the sites mentioned in this article, you'll be amazed by what you can accomplish.
