A stroke occurs when the blood supply to part of the brain is interrupted or reduced, depriving brain tissue of oxygen and nutrients. Within minutes, brain cells begin to die. High blood pressure and stress are two of the main contributors which can lead to a stroke.
Stress hormones increase blood pressure, and when those hormones are around long-term, it can lead to high blood pressure, the leading cause of stroke.
These stress hormones are also known to lead to diabetes, atherosclerosis (artery disease), and heart disease, which are all stroke risk factors.
Stroke Symptoms:
A stroke is a medical emergency and requires immediate medical attention.
Early action can minimize damage to the brain and potential complications. A full blown stroke can result in permanent disabilities and even death.
