400 square feet is equivalent to the size of a two-car garage. If you're a single person, this small space might be suitable, but if you have a roommate, spouse or children, I would recommend looking for something much bigger as that small of a space can be a bit crammed.

bedroom apartments start anywhere between 600 - 934 square feet of space at around $700 - $1200 per month providing enough room that you can live comfortably.
If it's in your budget, many of today's newer apartment buildings or lofts, offer even larger spaces of about 1200 - 2000 square feet which will cost you around $1500 - $2500 per month depending on your location.
