At one point or another, every child will get diaper rash. No matter how careful you are as a parent or caregiver. It's unavoidable, but treatable.
Most Common Causes of Diaper Rash
1. Leaving a wet or dirty diaper on too long.
2. Rubbing or chafing against the diaper itself.
3. Yeast infection
4. Bacterial infection
5. Allergic reaction to diaper
For home care of diaper rash take the following steps:
1. Expose baby's bottom to the air:
Reduces moisture to prevent skin irritation.
2. Frequent diaper changes:
Reduces skin exposure to moisture that can cause irritation.
3. Lanolin:
It can treat cracked, dry, irritated skin and minor burns. It can also treat and prevent sore nipples caused by breastfeeding.
4. Petroleum jelly:
A thick, topical ointment made from crude oil that moisturizes and protects the skin. Commonly known as Vaseline.
5. Zinc oxide:
It can treat and prevent diaper rash.
6. Barrier cream:
A cream that soothes and protects irritated skin.
7. Talc:
A mineral that helps eliminate excess fluid in the lungs by closing the gap where fluid accumulates.
8. Petrolatum / Zinc oxide:
A cream that moisturizes dry or dough skin and soothes minor skin irritations.
9. Dimethicone / Petrolatum:
