Depending on your level of experience, there are two popular ways to record a song.
1. Home studio or garage
2. Find a local studio where you can buy studio time.
If you already have a band, you should rehearse your song until you have everything down to a science. If you chose to go the studio route, this will cut your time in the studio in half, lowering the cost of the time you spend in the studio.
If you choose to forgo the studio route (and many people do) you will need a certain level of expertise to create a professional sounding song such as the ones we hear online or in the radio.
Going the do -it -yourself route will require having professional equipment such as:
1. DAWs system (Digital Audio Workstation)
2. Computer
3. Audio Interface
4. Microphones
5. Headphones
6. Studio Monitors
7. Cables
8. Microphone Stands
9. Pop Filter
10. Various types of guitars
Depending on your genre and/or sound you're trying to achieve, the items listed above are the bacis necessities when recording a song from a home studio environment.
Studios on the other hand, are a great option if you have the money and your song is ready to go. The more mistakes you make in a professional studio, the more time and money it's going to cost you. So, if you choose the studio route, go prepared and bang your song out on the first two attempts if possible.
