Everyones idea of a good book comes in many different taste. A good book to one, may not be a good book to another.
So, if you find yourself having the time to sit and read a great book, here are a few recommendations.
I marked the ones I've read below. Others are based on popular reviews.
1. Unwifeable
Is a Memoir by Mandy Stadtmiller
Story:
From the dating columnist at the New York Post comes a gutsy memoir full of failed romances, blackout nights, laugh out loud dating stories and touching moments all women will relate to, delivered with unflinching candour and brilliant wit.
2. The Female Persuasion (Read it)
by Meg Wolitzer
is an exciting, multilayered novel about ambition and power, and the romantic ideals we take into adulthood about who we want to be, who we want to be with and what love actually means. The Female Persuasion also explores womanhood, mentorship and loyalty. (This is one to read)
3. Love And Other Words
by Christina Lauren
tells the story of an ambitious and successful woman who runs into her first love from her teenage years
and the novel flips between 'Then' and 'Now' as it recounts a story of romance, loss, friendship and betrayal.
4. After Anna (Read it)
by Lisa Scottoline
A gripping domestic thriller about a widower and single father, Noah Alderman, and his new wife Maggie Ippolitti, whose life is turned on its head when her estranged only daughter Anna is murdered, and Noah is accused and tried for the heinous crime. (Worth reading)
5. The Rules Do Not Apply
A Memoir by Ariel Levy (Read it)
A candid and honest memoir about a woman, Ariel Levy, overcoming a horrific loss following a miscarriage, and her journey of self discovery as she attempts to reinvent herself and redefine her place in the world.
6. Lost in the Beehive
by Michele Young-Stone
A toughing novel set in the 1960s about the strength of friendship, the power of love, and the true lengths someone will go to accept their past if it means a better chance of a happy future. Mysterious.
7. Deadly Secrets
Is a book written by Robert Bryndza
It's a serial killer thriller which kicks off when a mother wakes to find her daughter’s blood-soaked body frozen to the road, and a fragile Detective Erika Foster is determined to lead the investigation and uncover not only who committed the murder, but what their perfect cover up is.
8. A Monsters Call
Written by Patrick Ness (Inspired by the idea of Siobhan Dowd)
Faced with the reality that his mother is dying of an illness, Conor is visited by tree-like monster who becomes his friend and helps him to overcome the challenges he must deal with.
