I can not effectively answer this question for every living soul, but, I can give you my perspective from personal experience as to why people are losing or have lost their faith.
Because we as people do not fully understand the true power and nature of God, It is often difficult for many around the world to understand his purpose and plan for us.
We often get caught up in our daily lives ,routines and circumstances, push us out of balance or out of alignment with our creator.
The first time we experience a deep lose or pain, most begin to turn away blaming God for what happened in their lives instead of praying and asking for help.
This is one of the main reason I believe alot of people are losing faith. They could have lost a child, a man or woman walked out of their lives that shoke them to their very core and it was beyond their understanding.
They could have lost a great job or lost a home due to foreclosure. Any number of things can happen in life that cause people to lose their faith.
We naturally become bitter and rebellious because we lost something dear to us. Maybe even justifiably so. Someone you love may be afflicted and influenced by drugs or alcohol. But, that doesn't mean we throw in the towel. These are the times we need to pray harder than ever before.
That thing that hurt you was totally unexpected and it took you out of your comfort zone. That's not a good feeling when your used to the every day routine. It knocks us off balance and many of us don't know how to recover. This is where the power of faith should be at it's strongest.
Instead of blaming God, we need to start asking for his mercy and forgiveness.
But instead, many rebel because they begin to ask the question, "why me?" They begin to feel sorry for themselves and fall into a deep depression. Not fully realizing that God is right there is the middle of the storm.
We often get caught in this uncomfortable position and many become very angry and cynical. Because many of us are so selfish by nature, that we sometimes forget to take a moment to honour, praise and thank the true and living God. He knows exactly what he's doing, so there's no need to lose your faith. We all go through trials and tribulations. Things get tough and we have to rise to the occasion.
It's a testament that God is with us all. He puts us through certain things in life to make us stronger and to see if we will remain faithful (job 38-42 take a closer look.)
There's a blessing behind every lesson in life. You can't just love God when things are going great. We also have to praise him and trust him in the middle of the pain. There is no such thing as part-time faith. Good times and bad times go hand in hand.
The God who created the heavens and the earth is always watching. We as mere mortals just need to get more in tune by blocking out the matters of the world and if you haven't done so already, throw your whole weight on him! He's all the love and support you need. Believe me when I say this. If many of us begin to fully trust and believe, there's is nothing that God can not do or remove from our lives.
My advice would be to pray more and ask for forgiveness, purpose and meaning. God gave us all freedom of will. We have to begin to ask ourselves, what do we really want out of this life and more importantly, what does God expect from us?
I believe that faith is one of the major things that keeps us connected to God. So don't lose it! Stay strong!
