As a former employee of Sleep Number (Select Comfort), I can honestly say, that the beds are a little pricey, but they are worth the cost.
Beds come in 6 different sizes:
1. Twin
2. Twin long
3. Full
4. Queen
5. King
6. California King
Types of beds:
1. C2 was around $700 during my time with the company (2015)
Standard modular beds consist of a plastic box spring frame topped with mattress assembly) They're great for the price, but I recall delivering more adjustable bases than anything else.
2. C4 will cost you around $1400
3. P5 bed will cost you around $1700
4. i8 will cost you around $2700
(The i8 bed Pillowtop is the most popular and is good for back and side support.)
5. iLE will cost you around $5000
6. X12 will cost you around $$8000
(Please note: Some products may have been discontinued and the prices may have increased or decreased based on regular sales and other factors.)
Adjustable base come in two types:
1. Split base: Two separate adjustable bases which rise and fall independently.
2. Full base: Which rises and falls as a whole bed.
So, if you're the type that doesn't like to move when your partner moves, then the split adjustable base is your best option. If you sleep alone, then either one will work for you.
(Be sure to measure your hallways and doorways because there were times I made deliveries that didn't fit in someone's house and had to reschedule the delivery for a different model at a different date and time.(usually swapped out for the split adjustable bases as they are narrow and more easy to maneuver.)
Each bed also comes with a remote to control your comfort level.
The company does has frequent sales, so it would do you some good to wait for the lower price if you're not in a hurry to make a purchase.
When you first visit the store, you will be shown a variety of models and they will allow you to lay down to find your comfort level using their sleepIQ technology before making a final decision to make a purchase. You'll then go through all the paperwork and schedule your delivery.
The company also offers a trial period of 100 days. If by that time you decide that you don't want the bed, they will make arrangements to have the bed picked up and give you a refund.
For "it" bed purchases, the in-Home Trial Period is 30 nights.
You have the option to pay for the bed in full or financing is also available.
The construction of the bed is comprised of
1.state- of- the -art air chambers (what you will sleep on)
2. Foam boarders (which help give the mattress it's shape)
3. Then topped off with the pillowtop (which gives the bed the completed mattress look) and any additions that you may purchase.
Each bed is assembled in your home at a delivery time designated by you. Be aware that delivery times will vary due the distances and time frames that drivers are given.
Each team of drivers/assembler is given a daily manifest. (A list of delivery locations for that particular day)
There will be two employees who deliver your new bed and they often have 5 to 7 deliveries on any given day and the distances are at least 20 to 30 miles or more apart (depending on the route for that day) although they do get lucky and have a few deliveries in the same area, so exercise patients. They will show up.
The average assembly time is usually 45 minutes to an hour, depending on the complexity of installation.
Most people buy the extras such as the
1. Memory foam
2. Dual temp topper which controls the temperature of the bed surface (Heated or cooled)
3. Surrounding boarders (encloses the underbody of bed)
4. SleepIQ installation which monitors sleeping habits (requires technical support)
5. Head boards and other additions
(these factors may prolong installation time)
Note: The list of beds and prices mentioned may become outdated as the company expands their product line.
Good luck with your purchase.
